Acknowledgement.—We have to acknowledge the courtesy of the Editor of the Hawke’s Bay Herald in obliging us with the loan of a Panama Star and Herald, June 25; also for the loan of a Daily Southern Cross, July 20; and a Wellington Independent, July 25. The above came to hand by the St. Hilda on Friday night. A few extracts will be found elsewhere. The Panama Mail.—The news by the Panama Mail is not very important. A pressure of other matter precludes us from giving any extracts. Emperor Maximillian, of Mexico, on tho fall of Queretaro, committed suicide by poisoning himself. Panama Stae & Heeald.—We bare not received our usual copy of this journal by the St. Hilda; and we have been informed on good authority that none came through the post at all. Being interested, may we ask the reason why none were sent to Napier ?
