Health op Sx. Thomas— The Panama Char and Hu:aid, March ao, sags : - “ It is with no small satisfaction that we learn of the improved -unitary state of the island of St. Thomas, which was such on the 16th iust., that both the .British aud Spanish Consuls were issuing clean bills of health to vessels sailing thence for foreign ports. The St, Thomas Times says: s ßy the lastnewspapers received, we see that yellow fever is very bad at Panama/ This is not; the case ; there has not been a single death from that disease among the permanent residents of Panama who have been here any length of time, and of lli* few deaths that have occurred among newcomers, with very few exceptions, they have ail occurred among persons who contracted the disease at St. Thomas or on board vessels trading with that island. At present, wo do not 'know of a case of yellow fever either in Aspinwall or Panama, nor is there disease of any kind prevalent on this Isthmu*.”
