The Victoria Ceoss. —The Australian and New Zealand Q-azctto of the 13th February announces that “the Queen has been graciously pleased to direct that the decoration of the Victoria Cross may be conferred on Major Charles Heaphy, Auckland Militia, for his gallant conduct at the skirmish on the banks of, t ie Mangapiko River, New Zealand, on.the Ilth of February, 1864, in assisting a wounded soldier of tbe 40th Regiment, who bad fallen into a hollow among tbs thickest of the fQneealed Maori*."
