Impounded Stock. —As will bn seen by advertisements, two sales of impounded horses take place at the Meance Sale Yards during the present week—the first on Wed* nesdav, at noon ; and the other on Friday, at 2 o’clock p m. English Mail. —The s s. ‘Taranaki ’ is due here to morrow from Southern Provinces, and will probably be the bearer of the English mail via Suez. Whether the Panama portion will arrive by the same opportunity remains to be seen. Holidays.—To-day and to-morrow, being Easter Monday and St. George’s Hay, will bo observed as holidays at the Provincial Government offices. Ax Example Woets Following.— As will be seen on reference to the advertisement of M-'ssrs W. Hague and Sons, and that of Messrs Baldwin and Higgins, ithe price of butchers’ meat has been considerabiy reduced. Could not our bakers do something in the way of reducing the price of the “ staff of life ” ? We feel sure the majority of our readers will agree with us when we say that the “ knights of tha cleaver ” have set the bakers an example worthy of being followed.
