THE WAIROA MEETING.
The Great Meeting of the Native people at Wairoa, for which extensive preparations have been made during the past twelve months, is now amongst the things that have been. Yesterday, a goodly number of our darker neighbors made their appearance in town, hiving hurriedly made the journey overland to port; and we have good reason to expect the return of His Honor the Superintendent this day. We believe that no European has, as yet, arrived in town from that district since the meeting, so we are unable to furnish any report o? what lias transpired, but conclude that the meeting has terminated more abruptly than was expected, as at our latest dates from Wairoa little or nothing of importance had been mooted. We shall no doubt be in receipt of our own correspondent’s letter in time for our next issue.
