The Elections.

NAPIER DISTRICT. THE POLLING. The polling for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier took place on Thursday, the 21st instant. The Returning Officer, having read the writ, said thrt Mr. Malthy had withdrawn, and that the state of the poll was as follows; M‘Lean 134 Sutton 98 Kennedy 95 Newton 85 Locke 82 Buchanan 60 Robjohns 57 Edwards 44 Smith 44 Stuart 43 —He then declared Messrs. Donald M‘Lean, Alexander Kennedy, Thomas Kennedy Newton, aud Samuel Locke, to be duly elected members of the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay. Messrs. M'Lean, Sutton, Kennedy, Newton, Locke, Buchanan, Edwards, Brentou i n the name of Mr. Malthy), and Buchanan (in the name of Mr. Stuart), thanked the electors, and the proceedings terminated with a vote of tlianks to the Rturneing Officer.
