London—Ensign, Uarguo, and StratUallan, ship, early The s.s. Wellington, Captain Francis, from Wellington, with the English Mail rid Panama, anchored in the roadstead at 4< a .in. on Tuesday last. Slis steamed for Tauraaga and Auckland nfc noon the sume day. The s.s. Beautiful Star, Captain Morwiel;, arrived at Wellington at 10 p.m. on the 20ih inst., 23 hours from Napier. She left Wellington on the 22nd for Akiteo for a cargo of cattle. The s.s. Kaisoura, Capfain JMachin, arrived r.t Wellington at 10 p.m. on the 23rd mat., liavinsf left Panama ou the 21th uit. Th& s.s. Egmont, Captain J. V. Hall, Jim., arrived at Wellington from the Southern Provinces on the 21st inst., after a most tempestuous passage. The s.s. Rangitoto, Captain Darke, arrived at Wellington at 140 p.m. on the 22nd in<+., from Melbourne. We understand that the s.s. Wellington lost :m anchor and a quantity of cable while in the Bay ca Tuesday last. The brig Miranda, Captain Tmnsell, with a cargo of SfiO tons coal, consigned to the N.Z.S.N. Company, arrived at Wellington on the 21st inst., after a protracted passage of 15 days from Newcastle. The ship ?,lontnv>rc-ncy, 1,000 tons, Captain Cooper, was loading at London for Napier direct at the date of latest advices, and was to have sailed on the 15th November. This vessel is another belonging to the wcll-biowa firm of Shaw, Savili, & Co. The ship Asterope, as our readers already lmow, left this harbor on Thursday afternoon. She was, however, compelled to bring up in Evans' Bay in consequence of oiverse winds, but left there again with fair weather ou Friday about neon.—New Zealand Advertizer, 24th December,
The s.s. Shir arrived from TVeDinglon early this morning. Wc had honed that she v,-cnld be the bearer of the English Mail via Suez, but in this we have been disappointed.
