First Wool Ship raoii Wellington.— The Independent, of the 18th December, says -.—On Saturday afternoon the harbor looked unusually gay. There was a brilliant display of hunting sported by the vessels in port, in compliment to the Asteropo, tbe first wool ship of the season, having completed her loading, As the last bole came over the side a salute was fired, 'which compliment she duly acknowledged. Tha Astcrope' clears for London this day, and takes with her several of our old and esteemed colonists as passengers. The Asterope is a well-know a trader to this port, this being her fifth voyage, and was built at Aberdeen. She is 1,200 tons burthen, and her accommodation and sea-going qualities are too well known to require comment; her cargo, which consists chiefly of wool, is estimated at the value of £40.0il Is led. and her commander. Captain Adam Stuart, a gentleman whose kindness of manner and untiring zeal in promoting the comfort of his passengers and general safely of his ship, has gained him the respect and esteem ol a largo circle of friends, with whom we heartily join in wishing him and his fellow-passengers Gon speed, and a Lon voyage.
