Mr Copelandwasdeputedtoproceed to New Zealand to look into affairs. Burke has been sentenced to death, and the jury recommend him to mercy as Hurst fired first. The Board of Agriculture offers £SO for the best essay on agriculture. There is a steady demand for the best Ade laide flour at £l3. There have been large private sales of Chilian wheat. At the election of Mayor for Fitzroy, Councillor M‘Kean was assaulted, knocked down, and his arm injured. Adelaide country flour is quoted from £l2 to £l2 10s; town, £l3 to £l3 10s. Sales of Chilian flour have been made at an advance. Large sales of Chilian wheat have been effected at 4s sd. For maize 4s 6d is asked. Over two thousand bales of wool were sold to-day at lOd to 14|d for greasy, 18M to 25|d for fleece. Messrs Bright, Brothers, sent in their lowest tender for pipes for the Geelong water supply, the amount being £66,892. Nov. 22. The foundation stone of a new Independent Church in Collins-street was laid to* ; day. £2OOO has been subscribed to build a new hospital. Mr Moore has resigned his office as Under Treasurer. Mr J. Turner, of the Post-office, is to succeed him. The Estates of Johnny Martin and S. and P. Beveridge will be placed in the insolvent Court, Shearing in Riverine is nearly over, the wool clip is very fair. The Murray is falling rapidly; steamers on the upper river are making their last season trips. Bonrke, the bushranger, is to be tried on Monday.
