The schooner Queen, Captain Loverock, left Auckland at lam on Saturday, I7thimst. Had fine westerly wind to East Cape; from thence to Portland Island, light northerly. Since then till reaching Napier, the wind was from N.W. hy W. Captain Loverock reports having sighted fl cutter, rounfi-sterued, ott' Cape Runaway, bound north —probably the Agues; also, the s.s. Queen, aud schooner Rose Ann, off Tai le Cape, on Monday night, both bound north. A steamer, probably the Star of the South, was going into the Tamaki when the Queen passed. The Queen brings us four days’ later ihtellgence from Auckland. Extracts will be found elsewhere. The p.s. Sturt arrived here at 0-15 a.m. yesterday; and left again during tho afternoon. The brigantine Belle is advertised to leave for Auckland flirect. It is expected that she will get away at the end of the week. The Belle has capital accommodation for the conveyance of sheep. The s.s. Lady Bird may he expected here on Saturday next With the English September MaiL The schooner Joanna may he expected here in a day or two from Auckland via Wangarei, with a cargo of Maugarei coal, The barque Cambula was to leave Wellington for this port on Tuesday last, and may, therefore, be daily looked for. ■ - ■ The schooner Meteor sailed ; for Auckland on Tuesday last. ’ The cutter Dolphin and ketch Taraipiue both cleared at the Customs yesterday, and will sail as soon as the weather moderates. The bulk of their cargo is sawn timber. Piracy at the South Sea Islands.— lnformation was received yesterday by the Isabela from the British Consul at the lijis, that a New Zealand schooner had been committing acts of piracy at the islands. The vessel’s name was the Kate, and several people had been illtreated by the crew.—New Zealand Herald; 14th November. Total Loss or the Brio Cosmopolite— Mr Ehrenftied, part owner and passenger on hoard tile above-named ship, arrived yesterday hy the Boomerang, s.,' from Queensland, and that gentleman has furnished the following particulars;—The Cosmopolite, from Sydney to Gladstone for cattle, went ashore on Masthead Beef at 1‘ a.m. on the 16 th instant, and became a total wreck. The reef Is about 28 miles from Gladstone, Tho sea was very smooth, and flttle or no wind at the time. Captain'Girdwood was In bed at the time, and did not appear to have any knowledge of the dangerous proximity of the reef, as he could Dot tell the vessels position until daylight.
