Star of the South, Captain Bondall, left Auckland last Sunday morning, and lias experienced some very heavy weather—having been obliged to put into Wangawehi for shelter. She brings a large miscellaneous cargo, 18 horses, and 7 passengers. ARRIVAL OF THE LEONIDAS. The brigantine Leonidas, from Melbourne, consigned to Messrs Kinross & Co., arrived in the roadstead last evening, after a passage of 15 days. MISCELLANEOUS. The cutter Nautilus went outside last evening. She is bound for Waiapu. The s.s. Ahuriri, with the English Mail, is due hero to-morrow (Friday.) She will not proceed to Poverty Bay this month, but return to Wellington on Sunday 26th hist. The Maggie.—We understand that an attempt willl be made this day to bring the brig Maggie inside. The s.s. Beautiful Star may be expected here to-day. The ship Norwood arrived in harbor on Saturday from London, 100 days out. She brings a general cargo and sixty four passengers, and is consigned to Messrs E. and H. Isaacs. Tins is the third time the Norwood lias been in Auckland barber. On the first occasion she brought Captain Mercer’s battery of artillery, and on the second a wing of the 18th Eegt. Amongst the passengers are Mr J. Selwyn son of the Bishop of New Zealand) Mr and Mrs Uoapili, natives of Sandwich Islands; and Mr HairUon. R.E., who is to succeed Mr F. L. Jones.—Weekly News, August 18.
