The captain says that the Mataura is coming to Australia, via the Cape of Good Hope. The company’s steamer Kaikoura will bring the next month’s malls. They took several of the mail bags, and robbed two of the passengers. ADELAIDE. Ist August. A mob of 5000 head of cattle from the Darling, for the Adelaide market, arrived at Blanchelown to-day. Thb lutbu-CoxiONlal Exhibiiioit. —The new Exhibition building, which is in course of erection at the back of the Public Library, is progressing rapidly towards completion, and iu a very lewweeks it may be expected to be ready for the reception of the objects to be exhibited. Applications for space have been very numerous and extensive ; but hitherto New South Wales has looked coldly upon the afiair, and declined to take any part in the show. In order if possible, to overcome this coyness or perhaps jealousy on tho part of the sister colony, a deputation has been despatched.to Sydney; and it is to be hoped that the effort will attended with success.! —Melbourne Correspondent of the Otago Daily Times.
