AUCKLAND. XIYE STOCK MARKETS. Me Scotland's Eeport for the week ending 3rd August, At the Haymarket on Saturday last fodder was in full supply, and in demand. But hay was no better worth, but second-class quality sold more freely. Maize brought 6s the bushel, and a large quantity sold. Not many horses brought forward; prices are nominal for this description of stock. (The smaller of the two farms advertised was sold at 37s an acre. Thorley’s food, 35s the case. At Otahuhu, on Tuesday, there was a larger than usual muster of stock, principally cows of large frame but in low condition ; they brought from £6 10s to £l2 2s 6d, averaging £9 each. At the Newmarket Yards, on Thursday, dairy cows were in good muster and sold freely, particularly those at calving; few store cattle offered; working oxen brought £3O the pair; fat cattle were in usual supply, about seventy head, prices were higher than last week, and all penned sold freely, bringing from 40s to 445; merinoes, 21s to 32s each. Pigs of good quality, for slaughter, were in short supply j young pigs were plentiful, all sold freely. The Papakura Sale steadily increases, both in the number of stock sent for sale and the atten-
dance of settlers, and there is but little difference in the prices obtained there than at Newmarket. On Wednesday last there was a large supply of cattle principally grown stock, and which were all quitted at satisfactory prices. Messes Hcnteb & Co.’s Report for week ending August 3. At our yards on Monday, at New market, we had not a good show of fat cattle, and not of first quality. Prices about the same as last week’s quotations. The market was also bare of store cattle. Prices slightly improved. Dairy cows are selling well. There was a good demand for this stock, and the market not fully supplied. Store cows are somewhat down in price. feheep Market.—We had a tolerable market of fat sheep. Provincial fattened merino wethers brought from 23s to 26s each. Pigs. —There was a slight improvement in price ' Otahuhu Sale.—We had large supply of store stock and dairy cows. Prices about the same as at Newmarket. Papakura.—We had a fair show of dairy cows which brought good prices. Stores not so plentiful, some pigs sold well. Horse Sale. —At the Durham Sale yards, on Saturday, horses were in moderate supply, and we cannot report much improvement in prices for inferior horses, hut good hacks bring from £2O to £25. Maize, 6s a bushel. Feed oats, 6s 6d to 6s 9d per bushel; feed do., 5» 9d to 6s. Hay, £4'los to £5 per too.
