MOHAKA.
(fsom a coeeespokdent.) Saturday, 14th July. To-day is Court day. The following are some of the principal cases, although there were several petty impounding cases which are scarcely worth mentioning:— (Before S. Deighton, Esq., E.M.) Allen v. Pearae.—ln this case, the plaintiff claimed £2O as the price of a horse which fell over a cliff and was killed while in charge of the defendant. It seems that the defendant had been riding the horse, and had not put her into the padpack from where he took her, thereby leaving the horse in a very dangerous place.—Judgment for plaintiff. Sim v. Carter.—This was for a debt, the defendant not appearing.—Judgment for the plaintiff. Allen v. Pearse.—ln this case, the defendant was charged with having yarded hia sheep without giving the lawful notice.—Fined £l, and £3 14s costs. A great number of cases are to be decided by arbitration. Several are of very long standing. lam very sorry to say that Paora Eerepu is not expected to live. It is mainly through the kindness of Mr J. Sim that he has not died before this.
