ARRIVAL OP THE CELT. The schooner Celt, Captain M'Eenzie, left Auckland at 9 a.m. on Tuesday sth June, with a strong gale from the westward, came to anchor at Mercury Island at 4 p.m. same day. Friday the vessel rather light, took in seme ballast; and proceeded on her trip at 7 a.m. on the 7th. Had light S.W. winds to the East Cape, which was rounded at 2 a.m. on the 9lh hist. From there experienced light variable brozes to Poverty Ray where she arrived on Sunday, the 10th, at 4 a.m! Remained there for eight days, bar-bound, with heavy south cast sea sotting in. Left on Monday, the ISth, at 9 a.m. having been towed out of Turanganui by a whaleboat. Experienced light w,nds and variable to port; and brought up in the roads at 2 a.m. on Thursday. 21st inst. The Celt will take in a cargo of cattle for Auckland to-morrow; and will probably get away dlher on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. ARRIVAL OF THE HERO. The ketch Hero, Campbell, master, which left for Wairoa with a full cargo of stores on Sunday 17th inst., returned to port on Thursday night’ having unfortunately been unable to cross "the bar. She left here at 10 a.m. on the 17th; and was off Wairoa next morning, but owing to there being insufficient water on the bar could not get inside. The sea was quite smooth outside. Lav knocking about for four days, when, the wind and sea beginning rise, it was deemed advisable to put back to M apier. Accordingly, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, steered for this port, and arrived in harbor at 11 o’clock the same night. Captain Campbell reports that some men were busily engaged in making a new channel at Wairoa ; they had been at work for four days when the Hero left. MISCELLANEOUS. Star of the South steamed for Auckland on Thursday evening last, with 79 head of cattle, 500 sheep, and sundries. The cutter Satellite sailed for Auckland from Poverty Bay on the 18th inst. The schooner Jane, with a cargo of cattle on board for Auckland, was lying at Poverty Bay bar-bound, when the Celt left for Napier. Erratum—ln our last we mentionedithat the s s. Star of the South would proceed to Sydney from Auckland. This was entirely a mistake, as there is no intention of taking her u off the Rapier and Auckland trade at present.
