THE BRIG ‘MAGGIE.’

[To the Editor of the Hawke’s Bay Times.! Sie, —lit Saturday’s issue of the ‘ Hawke’s Bay Herald’ I notice a letter from Wm. Bendall, master of the s.s. * Star of the South,’ in which he states that the brig ‘ Maggie ’ is a very unhandy craft for this port. Allow me. Sir, to say that Captain Bendall could never have been in command of any sailing vessels, or surely he could not have made such erroneous representations. As for myself, I have been in sailing vessels for many years now, and can recommend the ‘ Maggie ’ for her rig and light draught of water. This vessel has now been in port for fifteen (15) days, and only got into a berth on Saturday last.—l am, &c., Charles Hook, In charge of brig ‘ Maggie.’ Napier, Monday morning, Bsth June, 1866.
