The Friendly Natives. —We have received from several distinct sources accounts of the conduct of these people on their return to Wairoa. They seem literally to have stripped the pas of the Hau hau natives of everything movable by way of loot. Great dissatisfaction is felt by the natives so treated, and we believe that they are about to lay their complaints before the Government with demands for compensation. Important Discovery. — A correspondent in the Waipukurau District lias inionned us that two salt springs have been discovered upon a hill a few miles south of that place. A sample of the water —supposed to possess medical qualities—has been forwarded to the General Government for analysis. There is good reason to believe that the discovery will prove of importance to the district.
