The following telegrams appeared in the Nelson Examiner of the 31st May :

“ Christchurch, May 30, 4*55 p.m. “The election for the Superin tendency has taken place. Moorhousc’s committee report him sixty a-head; Lance’s committee claim a majority of 340. Travers, nowhere.’* “ Christchurch, May 30, 7.33 p.m. “ A declaration of the poll for the election of the Superintendent, as far as the returns have come to hand, has been made, and the following is the result:— Moorhouse 1190 Lance 684 Travers ...- ... 140 “The returns from some of the out-districts have not been received, but they are not expected to materially alter the position.”
