AUCKLAND. .. LITE STOCK MARKETS. Mu Ecckt.akd's report for tho week ending June S. At the Hayinarket, on Saturday, a large quantity of fodder was sold ; prices were without variation. Maize brought 9s per bushel. There was a good enquiry for strong riding horses; all offered of this description were disposed of at full rates. Other descriptions of horse stock were almost unsaleable. iStore cuttle came forward sparingly, and maintained their price. Fat cattle ruled higher than last week —5s the 1001 b.; they were short of requirements. Dairy cows continue in request, and, if near calving, bring long prices—from £2O to £23 each. Fat sheep offered in greater numbers than last week : all at hand sold at a further advance in price of 2s per head. Store wethers offer it*, large numbers, with scarcely an inquiry. Young ewes are enquired for, and would bring full rates. Aged half-bred ewes brought 25s and 26s each. Pigs were in usual supply, but, unless of prime quality, easier in price.
Messes Hcntek & Co.’s Eepert for week ending June 8. We have to report that at our yards, on Monday, fat cattle were in fair supply. Prices were about the same as last quotations—4ss the 1001 b. Store cattle were in fair supply, and prices about the same as last week. We had a full market of dairy cows, and they are still maintaining the same high rates. Some lirst-clasa animals brought as high as £23 15s. Sheep Market.—We had a fair market of fat eheep, but mostly of inferior qualities. Pro-vincial-fattened merino wethers, from 22s to 27s 9d each. Napier wethers were about the same as last quotations; wo sold a few at 15s There were no half-brcds in the market. Otabuhu Sale. —We had a fair supply of store cattle and dairy cows at this market, and prices about the same as at Newmarket. Papakura Sale.—There was a good number of store cattle and dairy cows, and prices realised were satisfactory. We sold off Mr M‘William’s effects, and prices gopd. Horse Market.—On Saturday last, the market was full but mostly of inferior stock. We had some good horses in, that realised good prices. Prices are steadily improving for all classes of horses that are young, sound, and can be warranted. About sixty horses changed hands. There is a great demand for good young sound hacks, and they will bring from £ls to £25.
