ILLEGALLY OH THE PBSMXSF.S. John M'Cartney was charged by Mr G. H. Swan with being illegally iu the bedrooms in Mac’s Hotel. He was twice found in bed there on the 7th inst., and the second time was given in charge. Prisoner pleaded that he was drunk, and said that he had slept there the night before, which Mr Swan denied. Fined 30s, or in default four days’ imprisonment. Mr Vaxjtier Janisch will sell to-morrow (Tuesday), at two p.m., at his mart, Eastern Spit,—boots and shoes, clothing, crockery, stationery, and a variety of other goods. Mr John Stuart will sell on Monday next, 18th June, at two p.m., at his mart. Eastern Spit,—a quantity of valuable land, situate in the town of Napier, township of Clive, Meanee and Eastern Spits, &c. Mr Edward Lyndon will sell on Thurs . day, 21st June, at two p.m., at his mart, Shakespeare-road,— a quantity of valuable land, situate Havelock, Clive, Moeangiaugi, and Napier, Mr Edward Lyndon will sell at an early date, at his mart, Shakespeare-road,—Napier Suburban Section No. 77, containing about eight acres, subdivided into about thirty sections of a quarter of an acre each. Waimaeama. —The election of a fit and proper person to serve in the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay, for the district of Waimarama, iu lieu of E. S. Curling, Esq., resigned, took place on Monday last, 4tii instant. The Returning Officer, (F. J. Tiffen. Esq.,) having read the writ, Mr Joseph Witherow proposed, and Mr J. S. Buchanan seconded the nomination of Mr Joim Weston, when, there being no other candidate, that gentleman was declared to be duly elected. He briefly returned thanks to the electors present for the honor they had done him. Messrs E. S. Curling and Buchanan having addressed the electors, a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer terminated the proceedings.
