WILLIAM THOMPSON.

It will be remembered that we stated that the interview held by his Excellency with William Thompson at Hamilton was attended with most satisfactory results. We h-ive now, in too lotlowing remarks from the New Zealand Advertiser, of the 9th instant, continual ioa of the correctness of our statement: —“There is one point in his Excellency’s late journey into the interior which is eminently satisfactory, ami that is his interview with William Thompson at Hamilton. Thompson, we understand, was most desirous of having the past wiped out, accepts things as they are, and wishes the Governor to take him with him to England whenever lie returns. A lull report of that meeting will bo presented to the Houses of Assembly on their meeting, and Tnompsou himself has declared his intention ot coming to Wellington to attend the session. Although many of the rebellious natives reluscd to meet his Excellency, many others who had hitherto been hostile did so, and have fully returned to their allegiance. Jbtewi, however, refused to see either lire G-overnor or any other European. It is. said that his Excellency will proceed to the Patea as soon as he has written his despatches for the outgoing, mail.” —Aow Zealand Herald, 14th May.
