We take the following from the Evening Post of the 7th inst“ His Excellency Sir George Grey returned to Wellington oh* Saturday evening in H.M.S.S, Eclipse. His Excellency landed’ at Thorhdon in one of the man-of-war’s boats about half-past 10 the same night, and at once proceeded to Government House. We believe that with the exception of the refusal of-Rewi and the King- to George Grey, the vice-

regal visit to the several tribes on the East and West Coasts of this island has been, highly satisfactory. On the East Coast th© Arawas Have expressed their intention to bring in Kereopa and Patura, and at the recent meeting between Wi Thompson, and ‘his Excellency, the “ king maker” made promises which there is every hope will be kept; We believe a full report of the meeting will be submitted to both Houses of Parliament. Te Ua, the prophet, returned with his Excellency on board the Eclipse, and was landed yesterday morning, looking rather feeble. He will remain in Wellington during his Excellency’s pleasure, but his ultimate fate we are unable to predict. 5 ' the Advertiser says :—“ It is reported that his Excellency will shortly leave again in the Eclipse for the North, aud will return before the meeting of the Assembly, but this rumor is not authenticated.”
