The arrivals nt this port since our last have been rretty numerous —no less than six vessels having jnade their appearance. The first to come to ancutter Mahia, Capt. Enright, eleven days from Poverty Bay, having left that place on the Srd inst., and anchoring in the roadstead on Friday the 14th inst. The Mahia cleared at the Customs yesterday for Poverty Bay with another cargo of sheep, and will most likely leave this day. The cutter Sea Belle was the nest to arrive. She left Mercury Bay on the 25th ult., and experienced heavy some very weathojv-urrivcd here OS the RiorsiPg of the 14th iset>
The next to arrive was the schooner Tawera, Captain Baker, from Poverty Bay, having left that place on Saturday last, at 4 p.m. Experienced light head winds and calms the greater part of the way. Off Portland Island was in company with two schooners, one of which was supposed to be the Aspasia, bound for Canterbury, and the other the Kauri, bound for Wairoa. Fifteen miles southward of Portland Island saw a school of whales, supposed to be sperm. Brought up in the roadstead at midnight on Monday, 14th inst. She leaves this day for Poverty Bay with a cargo of sheep. The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Seymour, from Auckland, arrived here on the afternoon of Tuesday, Isth inst., and leaves for Southern Ports this day at noon. The cutter Betsey, Bushel, anchored in the roadstead'on the night of Tuesday, 15th inst., from Auckland, and brings a cargo of timber. The s.s. Lady Bird, Captain Kreeft, arrived here early this morning from Soutnern Provinces, and will leave for Auckland this day, at noon. The s.s. Wonga Wonga has been totally wrecked on the Grey River bar. The s.s. St. Kilda steamed for Poverty Bay on Tuesday night last, having on board twenty-nine men of No. 2 Company Military Settlers, in command of Lieut. Tuke; also, a number of women and children. The ship Mary Shepherd, with 444 men of the 40th Regt. on board, sailed for London from Auckland on the Bth inst.
