SELF-DENYING LOVE.. (Homans, 8,13.) §f WOULD not, writes the soldier-saint, © Tempt a weak brother to bffend, If aught wherein hia strength was faint My conduct or my words could mend. I would not venture nearer sin. Though less its luring power to me, If 1 should draw another in The snare he was not skilled to flee. Oh truthful words of holiest love! What power have yo to guide us all! How dost thou teach men to remove The traps by which their brethren fall Thou in the strength of Christian light Still criest aloud and yet again: “Go forth in self-denying might, Prevent the snare, prevent the pain.*
