REGISTER! REGISTER!!

We beg to call the attention of our readers to the fact that alt claims to vote must be sent to the ■ Registration Officer, John Curling, Esq., on or before Saturday, 31st inst. The claimant must describe distinctly on the form the property for which he claims a vote, aud the district within which such property is situated—whether Napier or Clive —as from these two districts the Provincial rolls arc made out. It is to be hoped that no person in the Province who can do so will let anything interfere with him in sending iu his claim ere it is too late, for there is no saying what good may not result to this Province at the nest meeting of the Assembly by its having on the electoral roll every qualified person. Claimants must bear in mind that the paper must actually be in the hands of the Registration Officer on or before the above-named day, as the law does not admit of any latitude on this point. The claimant must sign his own name, a prosy not being allowed. Place of abode must be accurately described. The “ nature of qualification” speaks for itself, which must be either “ leasehold,” “ freehold,” or “ household.” In reference to the above subject, we have to note a very serious error in the columns of our contemporary, who, in describing the qualification for a voter as defined by the Constitution Act, says, “a freehold with the truth however being, according to the clear reading of the Act, “ a freehold of the clear value of #SO above all CHARGES AND INCUMBRANCES, which is a very different thing, and would, if strictly adhered to, very materially curtail the extent of the roll. The other two qualifications named are substantially correct. We would, in conclusion, remind the public that registration forms may be had Loth at the ‘ Times ’ and ‘ Herald’ Offices, and that, therefore, they can have no excuse if they are qualified to vote, and do not send in their claims to do so before the time passes away.
