[To the Editor of the Hawke’s Bay Times.J Sir, —I am now an Elector of this Town, and I heard this day what was said at the hustings. I think there is good deal of trutli in what Mr Colenso said. I mean those words of his as to his'twofold position as one of our M embers for the Town in the Provincial Council as well in the General Assembly. I think he is right, he can’t hold one without the other. He gave up his seat in the Provincial Council on his going to Wellington in the winter, and we were determined to put him in again, and we did so. I should be very sorry to lose him in the Provincial Council, and I know many of my friends agree w’ith me in this. But if the Electors of the Town don’t mind themselves, they will X think lose him, and that may be of more consequence to us than his going to the Assembly. YP ill the Electors of the Town think over this a bit ? Can they afford to lose him, Mr Stuart too being gone ? Besides I don’t think he has had fair play from some of the old Electors, who seem to have dropped their old Member like a hot ’tatur. To bo sure I don’t know much of the past except by hearsay, bat we all heard Mr Colcnso’s fair and open challenge this day, which I must say went home tu my heart, and I did look for some of his opponents to take him up. I wish the newly arrived in this place could now vote.—l am, &c., A WORKING MAN. Napier, 16th March, 1866.
