New Advertisements. TO.THE ELECTORS OP THE TOWN OP NAPIER. GENTLEMEN, —I have this day tendered to His Honor the Superintendent the resignation of my seat in the Provincial Council, consequent upon my intended departure for England. In taking leave, I have to thank you most warmly for the confidence reposed in me, and only regret it has not been in my power to be of greater use. I shall always feel a lively interest in the welfare of this fair portion of her Majesty’s dominions, which, with the two following engineering works -accomplished, is destined to be in my opinion, one of the most prosperous provinces in New Zealand. I mean:— 1. A Breakwater from the Bluff to protect the shipping in the Roadstead, as well as the entrance into the Inner Harbor, and thereby prevent the formation of a Bar. 2. A Railway from Napier, through the Ruataniwha Plains, into the Seventy Mile Bush. Constructed as such railways are in the Western States of America, they are much cheaper than macadamized roads. With those facilities, instead of paying our neighbours somewhere like £40,000 per annum for Flour and Timber, we might supply them to advantage. For legitimate works like these, money «an always be raised. Recommending those suggestions to your notice,—* Believe me to be, Yours very truly, J. M. STUART, i Napier, Ist March, 1866. FOR NEWCASTLE, Calling at Sydney should sufficient inducement . offer. A BBGT7LAE TRADES, THE fine fast-sailing AT Brig “ Ml GGI E,” 191 tons register, Jons Clare, Commander, expected to arrive about 10th inst., will leave for the above port after discharge of her inward cargo.
