ARRIVAL OP THE ENGLISH MAIL. Thu s.s. 4 Lord Ashley/ Captain H. Worsp., brought up in the outer harbor at noon yesday, from Southern Provinces, bearing the English December mails—a most remarkable event, by the way. The news this month is not very important. Elsewhere will be found a summary of the intelligence to hand.
ARRIVAL OF H.M.S.S. ‘ ECLIPSE,’ WITH HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR. H.M.S.S. ‘ Eclipse,’ Captain Freemantle, arrived in the roadstead at 7'30 last evening, from Wellington, with His Excellency the Governor on board. His Honor the Superintendent went on hoard immediately after the ‘Eclipse’ brought up. We have not heard the object of this visit. 10'30 a.m.—We stop the press to report the landing of Sir George from the * Eclipse,’ amidst firftig of salutes from that vessel and Gore Browne Barracks. His Excellency was received on the heath by a body-guard of the 12th Eegt. We have not space to say more at present.
