MONDAY, 19TH FEBRUARY, 1866. REGISTRATION OF VOTES.

"NOLUUS ADDICTOS JCEAEK IN VEEBA HAGISTBI.”

We would warn the public,—especially those who are la any degree pushed for time, —or those who (unthinkingly) are apt to put off for to-morrow what might very easily be done to-day,—that “time is on the wing,”—• that they have only forty more days in which to prepare and send in their claims for votes to the Registration Officer. Referring to this very important matter, the ‘ Wakatip Mail,’ a journal published on one of the gold-fields of Otago, has the following sensible remarks. The italics are our own;— All our 2few Zealand contemporaries are dwelling earnestly upon the value of registering votes during the present opportunity. They advocate the formation of committees; but it is a singular fact, that on the Gold fields a great difficulty is experienced in discovering the boundaries of districts, and one can hardly tell whether his vote is to be registered for the Gold-fields Boroughs, or for a county, or for. a district election. Definite maps, or information, is much required in the mat • ter, from those in authority. Wo learn that parties registering votes here are doing so in duplU cate, to make sure of sending the aamei to the proper Reluming Officer.
