AUCKLAND ANNUAL REGATTA.
(New Zealander, Slat January.) Monday (29th January) being our annual regatta day all places of business were closed and the holiday was taken advantage of by all. There were crowds of persons throughout the day on the Queen-street Wharf, and every available spot from which a view of the races could be obtained was crowded with spectators. The flagship Prince Alfred was moored some hundred yards from the wharf, and was crowded with anxious sightseers, Everything passed olf well, and them was not, so far as we are aware, any accidents. _ Besides the thousands who watched the various rowing and sailing contests there were other thousands who availed themselves to visit Kemp’s Gardens, the North Shore, the Lake, and other places near Auckland, where the day might bo pleasantly passed. Altogether Monday was a great success.
