The Government paddle-steamer Huntress. Captain John L. Stalker, left the roadstead at 8 - 30 o.m. on Saturday, the 20th instant, with a fresh wind from N.E., which rapidly freshened to a gale, accompanied by rain, and bringing in a very heavy sea; anchored off the Wairoa Elver at 8 aan on Sunday; crossed the bar at 9'30 a.m„ and anchored at Clyde. At 9 a.m., on Monday, his Honor the Superintendent and party embarked for the camp, steamed up the river as far as Ikawai, and proceeded the remainder of the distance in the commodious boat;of the Colonial commissariat. On Tuesday, at noon, his Honor the Superintendent and party re-embarked, steamed down the river, stopping at the pahs of the chiefs Kopu and Paul (Paora), where his Honor was very cordially received. 4t 6 p.m. anchored at Clyde. On Thursday, at 10 a.m., embarked 120 Tuparoa natives in the river, steamed alongside the Government ss. St. Kilda, and transhipped them into that vessel; the remainder were embarked on board the p.s. Huntress during the afternoon, under the superintendence of Mr F. E. Hamlin. Left at 5-30 p.m. and arrived at Napier, at 11-10 p.m. the same night, (Thursday). Captain Stalker reports a heavy fresh in the Wairoa Eiver.
