MARITIME NOTES.

ABEITAXi OF THE NEW SCHOOKEB DON4XB M*LEAN. The fine new clipper-built fore-anfi-aft schooner Donald M'Lean, Captain Bead, left Auckland on Tuesday, the 16th instant, and arrived at Poverty Bay at noon on Saturday, the 30th instant, having experienced light variable winds with 4ne weather. Left again at 8 p.m. same day; arrived in the Ahuriri roadstead at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 23rdinstant, alter an average run or sis days; entered the iron rot at 7 p.m. From Poverty Bay to this port experienced nothing hut strong head 'winds, with heavy sea, accompanied with rmn. Off White Island, on Friday last, passed the s.s. Beautiful Star, hence the night of tire 17th instant. ■T.-^ eaa —so named in honor of the Superintendent of this Province, and the launch of which we had recently the pleasure to notice from an Auckland journal seems a tight-looking little craft; is said to he a good sea boat (as, indeed, aU Eeddoes’ build are), and a capital sailer; and fuUy justifies the expectations which had been formed of her ere she left the waters of the Waitemata. This is her maiden trip, and she has experienced some adverse weather, during which she has behaved very well, and made the trip in a reasonable space of time; —which tacts, let us hope, augur weU for the future career of this creditable addition to the vast coasting fleet of the Colony. She is owned and commanded by that enterprising mariner, Captain Bead, of Poverty Bay; and, should sufficient inducement offer, will, we understand, trade between that port and Napier. We sincerely wish her every success. The Donald M'Lean brings hut a email cargo for this port—the remainder being for Poverty Bay. to which port she proceeds (u a day or two. * MISCELLANEOUS, The cutter Bittern was advertised to leave Auckland for this port in a few days, in the latest papers (16th inst.) The P,, N.Z., and A.8..M. Co.'s s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain H. Worsp, may be expected here this day from Southern Provinces—with the English mail ?

The N.Z.S.N. Co.’s s.s. Rangatira, Captain Seymour, is due here from Auckland this day. The brigantine Balmoral will, we believe, leave for Hobart Town during the course of the day.
