AEEIVAL OP THE SCHOONER SUCCESS. The favorite clipper schooner Success, Contain G. Frost arrived in the Iron Pot about 5 p.m. on Saturday last, the 23rd; just after we went to press. She left Auckland about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the 20th, rounded the East Cape about 4 a.m. on the 22nd in a very thick fog; on the 23rd, about 6 a.m. rounded Portland Island; and from t.ience to port had strong head wind, which accounts for the long lime she took in coming up to her anchorage. Capt, Frost brought her into the Iron Pot without the assistance of the pilot. When crossing the bar, it being nearly low water at the time—the schooner bumped two or three times; but managed to drag across. Between Ahunri and Clive sighted a boat adrift, supposed to be the boat in which, our readers will remember, three men of the ship Strathallan “ skedaddled” on the night of that vessels arrival from England. Cargo of Success: 21,000 ft. timber, 23 tons flour. AEEIVAL OF THE S.S. ST, EIi,DA. The Government s.s. St. Kilda, Capt. Kennedy, hence the 22nd arrived at Poverty Bay the same night. Left next evening about four o’clock; and arrived off Wairoa about noon on Sunday, the 24th. After remaining there for about an hour, steamed for Napier—arriving here about five the same evening. ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. EANGATIRA. The N.Z.S.N. Co.’s s.s. Eangatira, Captain Seymour, left Napier on Sunday, the 17th inst., at 3 o’clock, i'or'fauranga and Auckland; and arrived at the former port on the inch, where she remained till 6 p.m. the came day, when she steamed for Auckland; arrived alongside Queen-street wharf at noon on the 2Uth. Lett for Napier oa the afternoon of Saturday, the 23rd; and arrived in the roadstead about S p.m. on Monday, the 2oth inst, ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. LORD ASHLEY. The P., N.Z., and A.E.M. Co.’s s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain Worsp, arrived here about nine o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 26th inst., from the South. She left Port Chalmers at 5 p.m, on the 20th and had light winds, calms, and thick weather until arriving at Lyttelton, which she did at 3 p.m. on the 21st; left at 0-15 p.m. on the 24ud and at 1 o’clock the next morning had an accident to her machinery, which could not be rectified until 9 the next morning, when she was again got under weigh, and arrived at Wellington at 6-30 a.m. on the 24th. Left Wellington about 10 o'clock on the 25th and arrived in the roadstead as above. Since the 22r.d the Ashley experienced heavy head sea, and strong gales, chiefly from the N.W. ARRIVAL OF THE CUTTEB SANDFLY. The cutter Sandfly, Dowell, master, left Auckland on Tuesday, the 19th inst. Called in to Mercury Bay, where she took in a cargo of sawn timber. Left Mercury Bay on the evening of Saturday, tho 23rd. Rounded Portland Island at noon on Monday, the 25th, and made the roadstead on the night of Tuesday the 26th, after a good run of three days from Mercury Bay. Experienced N.W. winds throughout the trip—strong during the first part, and light during the latter. She entered the Iron Pot yesterday morning. Cargo: 9,240 ft, sawn timber. MISCELLANEOUS. The N.Z.S.N. Co’s s.s. Eangatira, Captain Seymour, steamed for the South on Tuesday afternoon, about 2 o’clock. The P., N.Z, and A.E.M. Co.’s s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain Worsp, took her departure lor Auckland about 3 p.m. on Tuesday last. The schooner Lady Bird, Baxter, master, arrived in port on tho night of Saturday last. She left Wairoa at 10 o’clock that morning, and entered the harbor at 10 p.m.—nuking the run in twelve hours. The schooner Vivid, Schon, master, sailed for Wairoa on Tuesday morning last. Tho cutter Betsy. Eushell, master, hence the Xlth inst., arrived at Auckland on the 20th. She called in to the Great Barrier on her way up, and took in 40 tons firewood. H.M.S.S. Eclipse, hence the 18th inst-, arrived at Auckland on the 21st. The London immigrant ship Siam, Captain Ashby, cleared outwards at Auckland for London on the 21st, and would commence shipping stores immediately. She is expected to sail early In January, and would take with her a detachment of H.M.’s 70th Regiment. The twin-screw steamer Waipara, which was run on shore during a heavy storm off Hokitika, on 15th March last, was got off again on the 9th November, and has gone to Lyttelton to relit. The P,, N.Z., and A.E.M. Co.’s s.s. Phoebe, during ber passage from Lyttelton to Wellington, on the 18th November, encountered a complete hurricane, during which she carried away her mizen-topmaat, and so damaged the lower mast that it will have to he replaced by a new one. The schooner Saucy Lass, M'Kenzie, master, left for Auekland yesterday afternoon, with a strong S.E. breeze. The Government s.s. St. Kilda, Kennedy, master, steamed for Wairoa just after the departure of the Saucy Lass. The p.s. Sturt, we perceive, had beeu placed on the N. Z.S,N. Co.’s slip at Wellington to undergo a thorot gh overhaul, preparatory to being delivered to her new owner at Nelson. The ship Water Nymph arrived at Nelson on the I2th inst from London. This vessel left the same day as the ship Strathailan lor this port, and the ship Wild Duck for Wellington. Renown, Mary Lawson. —For New Zealand; Mermaid, Commodore, Paria, Parisian, Cossipore.—For Tasmania: Fugitive.—For West Australia: Emma, George Washington, Witch of the Wave. The average speed of the City of Adelaide throughout the voyage was eleven knots per hour. The passage from the Sound w»s performed in S 3 hours, the quickest on record.
