AUCKLAND. LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messes. Hunter and Co.’s Eeport for week ending December 15. Wo have to report that on Monday last, the fat cattlemarket was pretty brisk. Some good qualities of Provincial fattened cattle realised higher prices than what they have done for the last week or two. Young store cattle: there was a good number in the market; all at hand sold readilv at satisfactory prices; there is a good demand for this class of stock. Dairy cows; there was a fair suoply in the market; some good cows brought high prices, and are in considerable demand. 'Veal calves; the market was well supplied and brought fair prices. F Sheep Market.—We had a good market of fat sheep bat we consider prices rather lower this week than the previous one; mostly all to hand were sold. Lambs were in large supply, and brought from 18s to 21s each. Horse Market.—There was a large show of horses, but mostly of an inferior description, excepting a few draught horses of a good sort that brought from £3O to £45 each Hacks and hght harness horses are in considerable demand! anything that can be quiet and good and can be warranted, brings a fair price and will sell readily; considerable numbers changed hands. Hay Market.—There was an average market of hay, but rather of an interior sort, which brought comparatively low rates. Hay. £5 to £6 10s per ton! 6 Mr Buckland’s report for week ending December 15 At the Haymaaket, on Saturday last poor hay offered in moderate quantities and met with a free sale at previous rates. Pressed meadow hay brought £5 15s, and lucerne hay £S 15s the ton. Maize hut little inquired for • it brought Ss 9d the bushel. The show of horses was less than usual; nearly all offered changed "owners at low rates • 20 were sold. ’ But little stock was offered at the Triangle. Three cows sold at auverago of £lO, and the half-bred lambs at 15s each. At Mr Grigg’s sale, on Wednesday, there was a very numerous attendance, The arrangements for the sale of the sheep were good, and the whole were sold with a free competition. The imported rams brought from £l7 to £65 each i 108 ram hoggets from £5 to £24, aTcrasrine £8 8a 7a each; 500 ewes from £2 10s to £lO ss, averaging £4 7 S ■ 213 ewe hoggets. £4 5s to £lO 2s 6d, averaging £S ss-244 ’ewe £2 12s 6d to £7los, averaging £4los; 264 ram lambs £2 10s to £lolss, averaging £3 15s; half-bred ewes 31s to 32s 6d; their lambs 21s each, A portion only of the cattle were sold, and the sale of the horses was postponed owing £8 500 fateness of 4be hour. The total amount realised was At Newmarket, on Thursday there was a limited attendance. A fair muster of store cattle barely maintained their late price. Dairy cows, near calving, were plentiful C e,°- Ce not in request; those brought from £l4 to £ls each, pat cattle were not so abundant mtv 1K d wcre higher than on Thursday last, 2s 6d i°° lb - Calves were scarce and brought high rates Pat sheep offered were of good quality, but la less numbers than for some weeks, and prices, were higher than in last week s market, 2s each. Lambs were without alteratiou in pnee. Store sheep offered plentifully. Wethers from the coast brought 18s 6d; ewes 18s 6d; merino ewe with lambs at side not counted,2Ss each; halt-bred ewes and lambs, 41s tne couple.
