AUCKLAND. LIVE STOCK MARKET. Sir Bpcsxand’s Report for week ending December 8. At Newmarket on Thursday store cattle were in larger numbers than for some weeks. For grown stock prices were lower, but for two-year olds au d small-sized cattle full rates were obtained. There was a full market of fat cattle, generally of good quality. Small-sized animals brought late rates—about 37s 6d the 1001 b—but large cattle ruled lower, fully 2s 6d the 1001 b, A full market of merino sheep, well fatted, were all quitted, hut from Is to 2s per head lower than last week's market. Lambs werain full supplythose of best duality brought fully late rates, hut on inferior stock there was a reduction of about 3s per head. The half-bred ewes, w!1 h,lambs at side, brought -<os each and merina wethers, in their wool, 20s each. ‘ ’

Mr Alfred Buekland’s sale at the Haymarfcet on Saturday last was fairly supplied with country hay, which brought improved prices on the previous week, averaging £6 per ton for good quality: pressed lucerne hay, Australian, from. £8 10 to £9 7s 6d. Maize, not in request, at 6s 7d to 6s. For the farms advertised there was not much competition; thry brought the following prices:—Alexander's, at Drury, 42s 6d the acre; Flat Bush, Otahuhu, 11s the acre ; Mahurangi, 12s the acre.

Horse stock were offered in large numbers, but were dull of sale. A very superior draught horse brought £54; useful riding and harness horses, from £8 10s to £ls each; and inferior animals from 2os each.

At the Triangle, on Tuesday, there was a large muster of stock, principally yearlings—they were in request, and brought from £4 to £5 5s each. The dairy cows brought from £9 12s 6d to £ls 13s. For the grazing and mowing advertised there was no competition at that auction. It was sold after the sale, at prices varying from 20s to 40s the acre.

The wool sale at the Haymarket on Wednesday was very numerously attended. For best got up clips, particularly long wools, the prices obtained were equal to those of last year, but merino wools, in grease, and inferior conditioned wools, were lower in price from Id to 2d per ft. After the wool sale, the sheep of Mr B Graham were offered. Bams brought from £7 5s to £l2; ewes, £4 os to £6 10s: lambs £2 12s 6d each.

We notice but slight alteration in the fat cattle market during the last week. Prices on Monday were a shade higher. Dairy cows were in quired for, and prices satisfactory.

Store Cattle.—We had a full market of store cattle ; they are still in demand. This class of stock, in fair condition, sells readily at good rates,

We had a good market of veal calves, which were all disposed of.

Sheep Market.—No. stores in the market. We had a good, show of fat sheep. Some good qualities half-bred shorn, brought as high as 49s each ; medium qualities, shorn, from 23s to 2Gs; fat lambs, I7s to 20s. A lot of half-bred ewes sold at 2os.

Horse Market.—We had a full market of horses on Saturday, which were mostly disposed of at slightly improved prices on those of the week previous. We sold some heavy draught horses at £-10 each.

Otahuhu Sale.—Wo had an average market of store cattle and dairy cows, which were all disposed of at satisfactory prices.

Papakura Sale, —There was a good market of dairy cows and store cattle.

The following are the quotations for the week:—Fat cattle, £45 to &30 perlOOlb: dairy cows. £l2 to £ls ; store stock, yearlings and two-year-old, £6 to £8; fat sheep, 35s to 40s; half-fat, 23s to 26s ; lambs, 17s to 20s, Horses; good hacks, £l2 to £2O; light harness ditto, £ls to £2O: heavy draught, £32 to £SO.
