Commercial Intelligence.

The Customs Receipts at the Port of Napier, for the month ending 30th November, amounted to £3,523 2s 7d—being £261 10s 3d in advance of last month’s receipts. AUCKLAND. LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messes Hhntee and Co.’s report for the week ending November 24, We have to report that fat cattle have not advanced in price since our last week’s quotations. We consider them a shade lower this week, but the qualities offered were not first class. Store stock were in fair supply, and prices considerably better than for the last few weeks : those on Monday were of a good description. Dairy cows were in good supply and of a good description. This class of stock is considerably advanced in price. We sold some as high as £ls 10s each.

Veal Calves. —There was a fair number in the 'market. They brought from 20s to 60s each. •Sheep Market, —We had a full market of store and fat sheep and lambs. Store sheep, with wool on, brought 21s each fat: sheep, shorn, from 21s 27s each; lambs, from 16s to 18s each. Otahuhu Sale.—We had a large market of a superior description of young stock, principally yearlings. They brought about £3 15s each ; all to hand were sold. Horse Market. —We have to report that the horse market is consideraly improved as regards price. We had one of the best markets on Saturday last that we have had for some time. Prices are considerably higher, and sales more easily effected. Draught horses were bringing from £4O to £SO each. Medium draught are worth from £2O to £35 each. Good hacks, from £l2 to £25 each. Erom 60 to 70 head changed hands. Waiuku Sale. —We had an opening sale of store cattle, dairy cows, horses, &c., at Waiuku, on Thursday last, the first sale that has ever been held in the district, and it may be considered a success. Wo anticipate that this will be an important market in future, as it is a district that is largely settled, and one of the most flourishing round Auckland. There were eighty head penned of which seventy-five head were sold, at a rate fully twenty to thirty shilling sa-head above Newmarket prices of the same week. The sale ■was held at yards erected by Mr Campbell, near his hotel. There is accommodation both for selling and grazing stock. The following prices have ruled-Eat cattle, 45s to 60s per lOOfts; dairy cows, £l2 to £ls: store stock yearlings, £3 to £4; sheep, stores, 20s to 225; fat sheep, shorn, 25 to 27s ; half-fat, shorn, 20s to 235; horses, good hacks, £l2 to £25 ; heavy draught, £4O to £SO; medum draught, £2O to £35. greater part offered was of inferior quality. No maize was offered at the auction : all at hand—about 800 sacks—was sold privately ; New Zealand maize, a ss; Sydney maize, at 5s 6d the bushel.

The lease of Mr Walter Rnnciman’s farm brought £lB5 ; the balance of book debts, £3B, and the allotments at Drury, 2s 6d the foot. Horse stock were dull of sale, but at low rates : a considerable number changed owners. No firstclass draught were offered. At Otahuhu, ou Tuesday, very few cattle were penned, and those were dairy cows and sold at full rates. The sheep were freely competed for —3OO Napier wethers in their wool brought 25s each; Australian shorn wethers, ex Hydra, 18s each.

At Newmarket, on Thursday, the yards were bare of store cattle. A fair muster of dairy cows sold freely, and the last week’s advance was maintained. Fat cattle were offered in excess of requirements, and 24 head were withdrawn. Auckland-fatted cattle maintained their last week’s price—about 40s the 1001 b ; but imported cattle were lower in price—3os per head. Fat calves were plentiful, and brought from 25s to 60s each.

A full supply of fat lambs sold freely, bringing from 17s to 25s each, one pen only being sold at a less price; 145 were sold. Fat sheep of good quality were plentiful, and brought last week’s rates; 250 were sold.

Store pigs were in good request, and those offered sold at high rates ; fat pigs sold, relative to other stock, at high figures.
