Spouting-.—Foot Race. —Ob Saturday evening last a large number of persons assembled on Cliresquare, in front of the Herald Office, to witness a trial of speed between two private soldiers, namedClancey' and Blake, belonging to the 70th Begt. The race was for £5 s-side ; distance, 400 yards. At the word off, Clancey made a beautiful spurt —thus getting a good start of -about six yards ; and ultimately winning, with ten yards to spare. Betting, even ; time, 53 seconds. We. may mentionthat Clancey was the winner of the 400-yards race on the Bth November; and Elate the winner of the 100-yards race on the same occasion. Township op Clyde.-- We would desire to call public attention to the sale (advertised elsewhere) of valuable land in the above Township ; and which takes place at the Crown Land Office on Wednesday next, at noon.
