ARRIVAL OP THE SEA 6EEPENT. The brigantine Sea Serpent, Capt. Blair, left Wellington at 3 30 p.m. on Saturday, 11th NoTimber, with the strong nor-wcsterly gale* so common in Wellington : at 5 p.m. was off Capo Paili'ser; at 8 p.m. fell calm. During the whole oCiieit day, eiperkrxcd light t.E. winds and
calms. On Monday had light W.N.W. breezes, with fine weather—theseabeingbcautifully smooth. On the 13th very light wind from the N.E., until noon, when it veered to the westward. During the whole of the night of the 14th lay off and on in the Bay-; and-entered the Iron Pot at 4 a.in. on Wednesday, 15th November. Passed the schooner Gelt off Gape Kidnappers, on Tuesday, steering north, apparently with a number of passengers on board. The Sea Serpent brings no mail; but we have been favored with a copy of an Independent of Saturday last, from which we have made some extracts.
The schooner Vivid, Capt. Schon, leU Wairoa at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14; brought up in the roadstead at half-past eleven the same evening’ and entered the Iron Pot'early on Wednesday morning. She had been bar-bound at Wairoa for twelve days before leaving; owing to the lowness of the water. Even when crossing she had to be dragged through about a foot of sand. The N.Z.S.N, Co.’s s.s. Queen, Capt. Renner, dropped anchor in the roadstead from Auckland early this morning. She brings papers to the 13th inst., but they contain no news of importance. The barque Sunbeam was to leave Auckland for this port on the 14th inst.
