Probable Recall of Sie Geobge Gbet.—As a statement has gone the rounds of the Colonial journals to the effect “ that at the time the last mail left England, it was rumored that Sir George Grey would be asked to retire, under the provisions of the Colonial Governors’ Retiring Pension Bill, which recently passed through the Imperial Parliament,” we take this opportunity of stating what are the real facts in connection with a subject of so much interest to the colonists. Between four and fire months ago, when the quarrel between Sir George Grey and General Cameron was at its most bitter phase, his Excellency wrote to, Mr Cardwell, the Secretary of State for the Colonies, requesting to he released from his post, as in the case of antagonism existing between men, high in office, the interests of the Colony werelikely to suffer, and for their sake—he, while at the same time justifying his proceedings—was prepared to sacrifice his post. There has not yet been time to recive a reply to his Excellency’s despatch, but it may arrive by the present mail. We cannot anticipate what will be its nature, but meantime it is certain that Sir George Grey has. tendered his resignation and it is probable that it. will bo accepted.—Wellington Independet, November 11. Letters of administration were granted, in the Equity Court, yesterday, by his Honor Mr Justice Molesworth, to Elizabeth Macadam, the wife of the late John Macadam, Esq., M.D. The personality was sworn as under £15,000. —Melbourne Age, October 20.
