The Deamatic Company.— This talented com* pany performed on Monday evening last, at ad* vertised in our last issue, at the Theatre Eoyal* The building was well filled, and the whole per* formance the most successful that hat yet been witnessed by the Napier public. The first pieca was Bulwer Lyttou’g celebrated play " The Lady of Lyons j” and aided by the paraphernalia of a stage, better scope was given than before for the display of the skill of the company. Mrs Folev'e “ Pauline” was superb ; and only equalled by the ‘'Claude Melnolte” of Mr Webster. The widow was well acted by Miss Wilton ; and Miss Grant w»» the mother to the life. Indeed we cannot refrain from applauding the extremely natural manner in which this lady’s performances are executed. Sir S. Faucett’s acting of Bcauseant, the villain of th» piece, was capital, although suffering from a slight indisposition. General Dumas was ably sustained by Mr 11. Sefton, and Gla vis and M. Deschappolla were well acted by gentlemen amateurs. Th# after-piece, “ The Spectre Bridegroom,” was alio more effective than before ; from the way in which the company could avail themselves of the aid* slips and scenery ; and it caused roars of laughter from the audience, who were evidently pleased with their evening’s entertainment. On Tuesday evening the performance consisted of the nautical drama of “ Black eyed Susan” and the farce of “A Kiss in the Dark.” In the first piece th» characters of Susan and William were ably sns* tained by Mrs Foley and Mr Y. Webster. Mr S. Faucctt, as the magistrate, was perfection, and the rest of the numerous characters were well acted. In the second piece Mr V. Webster and Mrs Foley performed the part of Sir and Mr* Pettibone with their usual ability. Mr H. Sefton appeared to great advantage as Frank Fathom, and the part of Mary was well acted by Mist Wilton. There was a good house, notwithstand* ing the unfavorable state of the weather. A Pito vinciAn Goveunmknt Gazette was is* sued on Wednesday, the 18th inst., notifying tha appointment of J. C. L. Carter, Esq., as Deputy Superintendent.
