The Hawke's Bay Times. NAPIER, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1855.
Last evening the sittings of the Provincial Council were formally brought to a close, after as short a session, considering the amount of business hurried through, as we remember to have known. y esterday, some amusement was occasioned by a motion for the previous question by Mr Buchanak, on the third reading of the Representation Amendment Act, wherein the Government party saved the measure by voting with the opposition. It was a clever ruse , and would, if successful, have caused the Government to have shelved the Bill.
The Representation Amendment, Appropriation, and Drainage Acts yesterday passed through their last stage.
