Waif aw a, — Our township was unusually astir yesterday (the 15th) owing to the mustering of the Militia and Yolunters, for the purpose of being inspected by Major Lambert, officer commanding. The Militia, under Lieut. Chapman, went through their various exercises very creditably, considering the short time they have been under training. Captain Tanner’s troop of Cavalry Volunteers deserved, and received, great praise for their neat and uniform appearance while on parade; also for steadiness of movement. This troop has been steadily improving in number and efficiency under their present instructor. On dismissing parade the Major, in a few remarks, impressed npon them the necessity of strict attention at drill, as, bein'* the only (cavalry) corps in the province, much would be expected of them.—Communicated.
