GENERAL CAMERON to the GOVERNOR.
The following letter from General Cameron to his Excellency the Governor has been published in the Auckland papers : Auckland, July 31,1865. Sir,—l have just read the speech of your Excellency at the opening of the General Assembly, and in it I find the following paragraph : “I also recognise the readiness with which Bri-gadier-General Waddy, C. 8., Colonel Trevor, and the officers and men under their command, afforded me all the assi .anco that was in their power, thougu precluded by their orders from taking any part in the operation against the enemy’s stronghold.” It is my duty to inform your Excellency that I positively deny having given any orders to Briga-dier-General Waddy, Lieutenant. Colonel Trevor, or any other officer which precluded them from taking any active part in the operations against the enemy’s stronghold.—l have, &0., (Signed) D. A.
