The Public-house Closing Act.—At a recent meeting of the Stockton Town Council, a motion for the adoption of a Public-house Closing Act was carried by a majority of twelve .to five. It transpired that one of the aldermen had received notes from four publicans asking him to vote in favor of the motion.
