In pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, John Curling, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a Writ bearing date the seventeenth day of July, 1865, issued under the hand of His Honor the Superintendent of the said Province, an election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Hawke’s Bay for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, in consequence of the resignation by William Colenso, Esquire, of his seat in the said Provincial Council for the said Electoral District of the Town of Napier; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Napier, on WEDNESDAY, the second day of August, 1865; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on THURSDAY, the third day of August, 1865, and the state of the Poll declared at the termination thereof.
