The Great Land Sale.— This affair that has been so prominently kept before the public for some time past in our advertising columns came off yesterday according to announcement, and was a splendid success. This we believe was solely owing to the extensive publicity that has been accorded to it. In this respect it has contrasted most strongly and favorably with several late attempts to get up an auction which have resulted in complete failures, no audience having been obtained in consequence of the exercise of a false and mistaken economy in the matter of advertising. Erratum. —ln some of the early impressions of the first page of this morning’s paper, 2nd column, 18th and 19th line from bottom, for “ several hundred pounds, and several hundred pounds” read (in the latter case,) “several hundred acres .”
