Resident Magistrate's Court.— The only cases of importance that have of late been before this court came off on on Friday last. The first was Danvers v. Davis, in which plaintiff tried to recover a horse or damages from defendant. A kind of verbal agreement had been made to sell the horse for <£23, audit was left in plaintiff’s paddock; but it was to have been a cash transaction, and the money not being paid, the defendant had entered the paddock and taken the horse away. Nonsuited.—The other was an action taken by the Commissioner of Crown Lands to recover £35 6s 8d from Andrew Luff, the same being a deposit of 10 per cent, on the purchase money of certain lands bought at auction by defendant on the 4th July inst. The defendant had protested against the sale on the ground of the surveys not being completed, but had bid for several of the lots sold besides the three knocked down to him. He also contended that the sum now claimed should have been demanded at the fall of the hammer, when, if not paid, the land could have been put up again But he was aware that the practice of the Commissioner was to permit well-known parties such as himself to pay the deposit at the close of the sale. Judgment for plaintiff, with costs.

Land Sale. —At the Government land sale on the 4th, 10,351 acres were sold in lots of from 80 acres and upwards, at from 5s to 10s 2d per acre. The sum realised was .£2976 13s. 1361 acres were withdrawn.

Professor Parker. —We understand that Professor Parker and Miss Annie Beaumont gave an entertainment, to a very good house, at Waipawa on Saturday ! last. We believe it is their intention to return to Napier on or about Saturday next, the 15th inst. Revision Court.— We would remind all interested in the matter that to-morrow is the day fixed for the revision of the Napier and Clive electoral rolls.
