The Hawke's Bay Times. NAPIER, THURSDAY, 29th JUNE, 1865.
The Times. —With this number we commence a new volume of our Journal. We embrace the opportunity to cordially thank our numerous friends, subscribers, and correspondents, for the liberal encouragement we have been hitherto afforded, and we trust that our new arrangements will afford us means of rendering The Hawke’s Bay Times a still greater favorite with the public. Held Over. —“The sick man,” and various other communicated articles, correspondence &c. until onr next. Another Victim.— Last night intelligence was brought to our office of the accidental death of an aboriginal native named liori, (George,) while in a state of intoxication. The immediate cause of death was furiously riding against another horseman, by which he was thrown, and his neck broken. Erratum. —Our attention has been called to an error of the press in a communicatedattide in onr last, on “ The Heretaunga Natives.” It is stated that they are paid by the Government, for road making, at the rate of <£3 10s per chain; it should have been £5 10s.
