ARRIVAL OF THE LADY BIRD The S.S. Ladybird arrived in the Bay yesterday afternoon at 4p. m. By her we have our Auckland files to the 23rd,hist. From the Herald Office we have been favored with an extra of that date, published after the arrival of the Auckland from Sydney. We give the principal items of news below. The Governor at Wellington. —We learn from the Advertiser of the 22nd that H.M. S.S. Eclipse, Commander Fremantle, arrived in Wellington harbor at about eleven o’clock on Wednesday night, the 22nd from Auckland via the Kawau, Sir George Grey on board.

General Assembly. —We take fhe followin from a N.Z. Gazette, dated 22nd June: —-In pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by virtue of an Act of the Imperial Parliament passed in the session bolden in the fifteen h and sixteenth years of the Reign of her Majesty Qeen Victoria, intituled, “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zearand,” I do hereby summon and call together the General Assembly of New Zealand, to meet for the despatch of Business, on Monday, the Twenty-fourth day of July next, at Two of the clock in the Afternoon, at the Parliament House situate in Molesworth -street, the City of Wellington ; and the Honorable Members of the Legislative Council and members of the House of Representatives, respectively, are hereby required to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.
