Some delay having arisen from communications being addressed to Hast ings-street, it is requested t hat all letters for the editor or proprietor, sent by post, be addressed “ Hawke’s Bat Times Office, Eastern Spit.”

To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times Sib, — I take the liberty of encroaching on your valuable space, wishing to warn you and the settlers of Hawke’s Bay that a person travelling under the name of Wells, alias Daniel Wilson, absconded from the 2nd Regiment Waikato Militia, stationed in the township of Alexandra, in the Waikato district, having defrauded many of the men'to a very large amount, this is to certify that the above-mentioned person is a man of notoriously bad character and not to be trusted. Ho arrived in Napier on or about the sth inst., ex Prince Alfred, steamer, but is supposed to have left that town for Canterbury. His intention is to obtain a situation on some station, and then defraud Ins employer as much as possible. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension for the last two years, in his native town of Avoca. Tasmania, where he is charged with sheepstealing. The following is his regimental description :—Occupation, butcher; age, 23 years : height, sft 9in ; hair, auburn ; eyes, brown ; complexion, fair.
